Throughly enjoying Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential. I got it as an audiobook because it was narrated by the author, and it felt like a first-hand testament of the greatness of the author. His storytelling is rambunctious and raw, as I imagine he was himself.

I don’t often listen to audiobooks (I find it hard to focus on the content and not be distracted by visual stimuli) but in this case I recommend it.

i just downloaded the sample on my kindle and was immediately hooked. gonna buy the book

he might be a school dropout but he was an avid reader since childhood it seems + with a mind of his own, from the little i gathered in the sample.
Seems on brand too, too cool for school but smart,witty regardless.

The parallels between his writing and beat literature completely makes sense tho, he does give off a very kerouac-esque essence imo.

For a guy who portrays himself as an under-educated high school dropout, his vocabulary is rich and his language flowery, on par with great beatnik or gonzo writers.

Maybe he had some copyediting help, but I doubt given how eloquent and in control his narration performance is.

I like to think he was just talented
