Another linguistics note:

Has anyone else noticed how eliding the subject (in this case "I") seems to have become more and more acceptable in English over the last 10 years?

Wonder if anyone has written about this trend.

I do it. It’s a bad habit. I don’t know where I picked it up but, like passive voice, I try to edit it before sending. 

Like passive voice, it separates the the individual from the action in some way. I’m both guilty but not proud.

I should have clarified that I don’t generally notice or judge it when others use it. But when I catch myself, it doesn’t feel right. It’s so  automatic and unfamiliar. Weird.

There's many languages (eg. Japanese) where it's common practice and even default.

(yes I know in some languages it's standard because the pronoun is still de-facto there in the verb ending; Japanese does *not* have that, and pronouns still get elided)
