Hello y'all -- an update on @faust, and where things are with Roc: A few months ago, we announced that we're building Roc (what we call a reality oracle computer). We've been hard at work on it for the past few months, and it is taking a lot longe than we thought. So, in the mean time we've decided to build a smaller scope version beta dev kit of it that we'll be announcing soon. We'll have more details soon, but here are some thoughts around the progress below: https://warpcast.com/july/0xfdc33e31

I’m curious about what initial problems you and your team thought to solve with roc? (I sound like a dev). I’m immediately thinking of “proof of photograph” or “proof of me (not deep fake) I’m sure the possibilities are endless and unforeseeable but I’m still having a hard time wrapping my brain around initial use cases

We've gone back and forth on many use cases. But its a bit of a chicken and the egg problem -- I have a hard time wrapping my brain as well around use cases because it doesn't exist but in order to find use cases, it probably exists. My conclusion: it seems like it wants to exist, so lets make it happen. My general conclusion is that the long term thesis -- building a device that can capture the real world in the age of Generative AI -- seems important enough to take the risk of making it happen even if it seems precarious to work on from the outside, and commit so much time on it. This first version isn't going to do everything we want to do, it's not going to be perfect, but we also have to give it its proper shot. Anyway, long story short its happening
