that’s just zuck living in mixed reality plus how was microsoft the open option in the pc era. they were anything but open? that was linux.

Windows thrived on an ecosystem of OEMs building PC systems and writing device drivers. If Meta is making a play on 3rd-party hardware integration, then the comparison works.

yes i definitely see what you mean and agree w/ you in this context. but those oem's were carefully selected by microsoft no? you weren't as free to easily build on windows like you were with an os like linux was my point. there's varying degrees of openness i guess ; )

There's a hardware certification program, but it's basically a free-for-all. No one ever got banned for writing crap printer drivers.
