We've tried a lot of the onchain stuff, couldn't get it to work. Too many low quality accounts have credentials, balances, attestations etc.  

The best predictor of quality in our experience is "who likes your stuff". All the onchain signals can usually be purchased or grinded through by a dedicated airdrop farmer.

Side comment, not related to spam as much as onchain storage of this kind of data:

As a product, would it be possible (or advantageous) to store attributes and proprietary scores as soulbound nft metadata?

This is interesting to me because each client should have its own quality/power/whatever score *and* the openness can be used by other clients for relative or compound scores.
