I agree, it's not just about supporting someone financially. Sometimes we also buy them as a way to show appreciation for what they do, even if it's not the best investment. If it were just only about the investment, I'd probably put my moxies into random FT always, even if I didn't know the person. But the word 'support' is very general. In your case, I know you mean 'financial support' because 'support' also means that I want your project to be successful.
