We tossed ping pong balls at the lil fish bowls, trying to get the ball in the bowl.  If you did, you won a goldfish.  

Most of mine died pretty quick too. But I did have one that was white and gold and it lived a long time, like nearly 2 years.

Winning fish at the carnivals was so much fun!

It's a bit hard to tell from my picture, but the Japanese version is a thin round piece of paper that you attach to a goldfish and receive it as a reward, but if you don't play quickly it gets torn.
