I think that if you think this way, you need to have a clear story of what even is the goal of [whichever chain you support]. How does having apps on your servers instead of facebook's servers make the world better?

there is an equilibrium between two spectrums 

(1) how decentralized something is

(2) how much the median crypto person cares about decentralization

below which no one takes you seriously as a crypto project

That's a crucial point, finding the sweet spot between decentralization and user adoption is key to a project's success. If a project is too decentralized, it may struggle to gain mainstream traction, while being too centralized can lead to mistrust from the crypto community.
