afaik they do fund most of the tx fees, that's why "it's cheap"

design will cause it to centralize more over time, so eventually it won’t be secure (you could argue it’s already there)

last i heard they also had no sustainable plan to fund operation of the network

- Seen as the VC chain
- Lots of big institutional bag holders
- Low decentralization (has frequent downtime which essentially never happens on truly decentralized chains)

Solana requires expensive heavy duty equipment to run its network. Higher throughput in theory, but higher barrier to access.
