we could have great things but metamask depreciated eth_getEncryptionPublicKey and eth_decrypt

nobody has been able to tell me why they "could not be perfectly confident in its safety" -- any ideas?

we have a hack-job way of using it w/ hardware wallets and such but somewhat concerned they're just gonna nuke it out of the API one day

I think it’s the fact that the EIP was abandoned and the issues are explained there: https://github.com/ethereum/EIPs/pull/1098

There will be methods in the Snaps API for this, which will hopefully land in ~ 6 months.
