What are examples of small indie websites that maintain collections, archives, libraries and indexes?

I wrote this whole thing without mentioning NFTs once but, for this crowd, you can easily see how this idea intersects with the whole genre of NFTs!

I think publishing "documents" to the web is kind of solved - but publishing collections of data still requires things like "databases" and "developers"

Where is the technology for indie indexes?

First thing that comes to mind is John Resig’s (of jquery fame) Japanese woodblock database and search engine. Love seeing something so focused and deliberate and exact and other synonyms
