Peter Thiel is a shitty person, and way too many of you are willing to look past that just because you secretly hope he'll invest in your half baked startup idea.

Curious -- Do you know him personally? Have you ever interacted with him? What are you basing this opinion on?

He's a massive public figure with a bunch of shit takes - don't need to know him personally to know he's trying to Manchurian Vance into the presidency (and is almost successful)

His shit takes definitely make him a shitty person. For example: • Monopolies are good and companies should seek to attain them. • Diversity initiatives are very evil • social programs like welfare are bad • "I no longer believe freedom and democracy are compatible" If anyone is an enemy of the people, he is.

OK, so how about Kamal's price control proposal? Any economist would tell you it's a shitty idea. So is she shitty, too?

I would call her price control proposal misguided and unrealistic, but well meaning because it has the goal of helping a large number of people. Thiel's actions and statements look a lot more self serving. It's hard to take his statements about democracy being incompatible with freedom as anything other than a desire to consolidate more power among a small number of already powerful people such as himself. That being said, I'm sure he's a pleasant person to be around for those who know him personally. He just seems to fit the mold of a pretty nefarious person from where I'm sitting.

Outputs matter just as much as inputs? re: Thiel self-serving -- so he's using the democratic process to try to create change he wants in the world. You may disagree with his point of you, but how is that any different than your preferred political candidate or financial sponsor?
