I once made the mistake of saying to my wife that maybe our son was “a super reader” in a fit of typical parental exuberance about his normal cognitive development, and now whenever he hits any new standard milestone, she will say “I think he might be a super reader” just to troll me.

hahahahaha she sounds fun! also kids are amazing and seeing how they evolve is awesome and surprising so i get your feeling. I have no children but I have 3 nephews and I am a very present aunt. Just yesterday I was practicing divisions with my youngest nephew (he still hasn't learned to divide in school) and when he understood the logic of dividing by two parts (we started with the easiest) and he got all the math right I thought for a second I was in front of a genius hahahaha.

Some traits in kids show up really early in life. If your child has one of those that’s a great thing. Even if your wife teases you about it you should keep appreciating and encouraging your child it really matters.
