Today is the final day for Yellow members to vote at https://uplink.wtf/contest/383 & have your say in the next 50 heads to be added to our permanent collection.

I've compiled a list of 'Toady's Top 40' with reasons, and wanted to share. 

These are more or less in order of preference in the GIF & the 🧵  below 👇

First up we have my favorite entry to this contest: Mammoth by @deguma. In my humble opinion, this is the perfect kind of nounish animal... kind of derpy and cute but immediately recognizable as what it is. 10/10, no notes.

"Golf" by @maty is a hole in one, and I will riot if it doesn't win. Perfect use of negative space, clever lil mouth. Relatable as a hobby for some. Yes please.

A great companion to the Mammoth, albeit a lil less wooly, @deguma's Rhino is also stellar. I love how the shape is so rectangular and yet has so much character and again, is instantly recognizable. I'm a big fan of Deguma (who also drew many of the favorites in the current collection.)

Call me a sucker for nostaglia, but this ViewMaster by @gretagremplin brings me back, and I think it would be very popular at auction with other 90's babies like myself.

Not sure I can explain what I like so much about Daikon by @8rr, except that the daikon is a v nounish vegetable, and this one is very cute. He looks like if Bert from Sesame Street got turned into a turnip's cousin by an evil witch, and I'm here for it.

The best nouns heads are often the simplest ones in my experience, and Burlap Sack, also by @8rr, is excellent. Bonus: with the Ethereum accessory it represents all of our bags.

Wi-Fi Router by @skwalo09 is just a very good noun head. Instantly recognizable, super relatable to literally everyone and has a very cute little LED mouth. Come on.

Eyeshadow by pixel-master @amiyoko is a sleeper hit imo. Pastel colors form a big toothy noun grin, while the reflecting mirror evokes some sweeping bangs. Also I'm here for putting something on the auction block for our onchain friends who like to wear makeup!

Pan-fried egg by @gretagremplin is relatable, hilarious and has a cute mouth (I'm a stickler for cute or clever mouths on noun heads and this one passes the test.) Great use of negative space too.

"Magic Sketch Board" aka Etch-a-sketch by @gretagremplin is another nostalgic instant classic, and though I just said I'm a stickler for a good noun mouth, somehow... this one doesn't need one? Must be those angry eyebrows!

Nothing more nounish than random office equipment, and this shredder by the legend himself @messhup is just awesome. I love the design decision to make the shredded paper a fluffy toothbrush mustache instead of a toothy mouth.

You forget about him in the trunk of your car, ignore him for years, but one day, he just might save your ass. Talking of course about Fuel Canister (Jerry Can) by @mindtoasted.eth

By now I've outed myself as a nostalgia maxi and there's no going back. @supertightwoody cryptically called this one "Console", but we all know what we're looking at here. Love the extremely derpy mouth placement.

I guess to my eye, @deguma has just nailed that nounish animal style. This vulture head makes me laugh every time I see it, and reminds me of the disney vultures. It's great, and as close as @nounishprof is gonna get to a Yellow flamingo.

Speaking of noun heads that make me laugh, this Centaur by @8rr is hilarious. It looks like someone took Bob Belcher from Bob's Burgers and turned him into a horse-man with a derpy little @gremplin mouth. The Greeks would be proud.

I didn't quite understand the shape of this croissant at first, until I googled "japanese croissant" and saw exactly where @amiyoko san was taking his inspiration. I love how he looks like a little pastry viking, on his way to pillage the Buttery Valley.

@gulamanyow is one of my favorite pixel artists, and several of his traits that are already in the Yellow collection are among my favorites, like World Map. This Djembe drum would be a great addition!

One of the things that often gets overlooked when choosing traits for a collection like this is how desirable the trait will be when it's on auction. @nounishprof has proven this out, with her highly sought-after farcaster arch head. This football by @skwalo09 is a no-brainer for this reason. Plus, he cute.

@seattlecrypto.eth had a lot of thoughtful entries in this contest, but this one was by far my favorite. Simple shapes, immediately recognizable, cute nounish mouth. And I think would be beloved by musical folks!

Another @gulamanyow contribution: Conical Flask. This one just missed contention in our original Yellow trait contest, and I hope it makes it through this time. I love the color, the subtle mouth, and the idea of giving our scientific-minded friends something to be excited about.

Nouns are literally "people, places and things" but we actually don't really see any places as heads in the OG collection. I personally love the idea of an epic world landmark like the Colosseum (entry by @redjetcar) being immortalized in the Yellow collection.

Time Bomb (dynamite) by @8rr... I just have a feeling this one is gonna blow up.

Everyone loves Xylophones. If this one makes it through, I might suggest trying to make a more clever mouth using a mallet during the curation phase, but overall I really like this playful entry from @8rr

Plant by @gulamanyow is straight to the point. Love the scraggly hippie beard reminiscent of the dirt-beard on our Worm trait. And @cyrus once lamented that we don't currently have any vegetation in the collection for the greenthumbs. Let's fix that!

Ok, we are so back. And I found the sock that went missing during your last laundry cycle, thanks to @mindtoasted.eth

Normally I don't care as much for traits with a lot of visual complexity, but @amiyoko is such a master that this one just works for me. Boarded up door mouth is elite, and I love how the creepy window lights match the Yellow Noggles. Imagine this one coming up for auction during Spooktober...

Goofy, cute, immediately recognizable, another classic trait from the twisted mind of @brettdrawsstuff. I love mop.

Perfect shape, cute lil robit mouth, and great choice of accessory to highlight the trait. Well done by Nebila on this one.

@deguma strikes again with Measuring Tape. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but I love how this looks like a little snake head at first glance, but then upon further review you can tell it's a clever little tool.

Not usually one for potty humor, but for some reason this Toilet (Stained) trait by @maty just makes me chuckle. He also submitted Toiler (Clean) trait too but tbh it's not as good. Revealed preferences ig. Anyway, it's great + I also get a kick out of how it looks like the bathroom version of @theboneys' Dolphin head.

Unique palette, retro vibe, will be popular among music-lovers. Would maybe like to see a mouth incorporated somehow but overall, I'm pretty amped for this one by @seattlecrypto.eth

Nouns has the thumbs up emoji as a head, and so I think Yellow adding the Pinched fingers emoji would be hilarious (especially since Gen Z has officially canceled the Thumbs Up emoji, RIP.) 

tbh I'm surprised @gremplin didn't already put this in the OG collection, given his penchant for using the 🤌

I love things that can be two things, and so I really enjoy how @gulamanyow's fountain pen nib head also looks like a little sailor noun. @loudman.eth wdyt?

Chess is meaningful to a lot of people, and this is a very clean, simple representation of the game. I this entry, another one from @gulamanyow, makes a great noun, and would be very popular at auction.

If we don't put this wonderful head by @deguma into the collection, well now that would just be shellfish. (Just look at that lil reflection mouth.)

This First Aid Kit by Anargya just looks so happy to be helping! Another simple, clear trait that I think will resonate for lots of people (people who work in healthcare, etc.)

All good organizations should dogfood their own systems and @maty has given /yellow that chance.

I find Trophy by @gianmadz to be a perfect concept execution. I wouldn't change anything. The handle "ears" + the wood base "beard" and little plaque mouth...

Extra! Extra! @gulamanyow is an excellent noun-maker, and this little newspaper noun is ready to be a headliner imo.

Finally at number 40 on Toady's Top 40 is Headphones by Tobi. Simple and clear, and again, I think a lot of @esports fans will find this one appealing. What do you think @jesscas @lunari?
