Marathon Digital Holdings, the world's largest bitcoin mining company and the second-largest public holder of bitcoin, said it supplies heat to nearly 80,000 homes in Finland. The company uses district heating technology that makes efficient use of excess heat generated by bitcoin mining. The system heats water and sends it through underground pipes to heat homes. Renowned crypto expert Thomas Brand said this approach would reduce the impact of mining on the environment.
