Something mostly lost once I got a girlfriend was the joy of going out solo. Sitting at the bar, having a meal, and a few drinks by myself. 

Lost in thought. No headphones. No book. Just thinking. People watching. Maybe you start a convo with the bar tenders. Get a shot on the house. 

Total bliss. 


Solo barstool, pint in hand—pure bliss. First sip’, I’m a king. Second, I laugh. Third, I sway. 

Piss myself in the alley, crying over an ex. Keys fumble, car roars. Swerve. Crash. A pedestrian lies still, blood pooling. I vomit, foam on my lips, no longer a king.
