One of the amusing aspects of this phase is that the quest for new ways to monetize through crypto often complicates the core experience of consumption in various ways. I believe that the key benefit of putting content on the blockchain is that it allows creators to earn more than they would elsewhere on the internet. However, the unfortunate truth is that the number of people who genuinely want to consume content is significantly smaller than the number of individuals willing to perform an on-chain action in exchange for a reward. This leads to a certain reaction. But if you focus on catering specifically to these reactions, you risk designing for a very limited audience (mostly comprised of active participants here on FC), which will quickly lead to a plateau in growth. This highlights the broader issue that consumer crypto has yet to fully meet the needs of either crypto enthusiasts or the general public. And so, the cycle goes on...
