Fuck yes shut that shit down! Oh wait, what do you mean the government doesn't actually shut all the way down during a government shutdown? Talk about getting your hopes up for nothing.

I would have to disagree. Nihilism rejects morality. Wanting to shut down an organization of evil people that uses their power to kill, imprison, enslave, export, and spy on the people they are supposed to protect is a very moral position. Moral principles should supercede arbitrary authority.

Oh and they are also paying like…. Idk back country rangers and a lot of other very important jobs and people who have those jobs. So unless you have a long term plan this is a nihilistic move

Well yes, I agree you would need some kind of plan. For example it would probably be a bad idea to end welfare overnight when millions of people are dependent on it. The main point I was trying to make was that a government shutdown isn't a real shutdown. However, at the same time it's still a moral conundrum of sorts when you are harming people to help people. Those important jobs and welfare is still all funded through theft backed up by the threat of violence. Call me crazy, but I believe that if you want to have taxes it should be a voluntary process in which you a) get to decide if and how much to contribute and b) get to have some say in the allocation of said dollars. If you don't want to deal with decision making than you can delegate it to a representative. People will argue that you delegate now by voting for reps, but that only works if your candidate wins, otherwise the majority party is forcing the minority party to delegate tax spending decisions to their candidate.

People generally want essential government services and many people want to help the less fortunate, they will fund these things without having to be forced to fund them in a package deal alongside all the waste and violence. IMHO
