Cutting two trillion in government spending shouldn't be viewed as radical/crazy. You can cut two trillion and it would only take us back to 2017 spending levels. The Federal Government is a bloated corrupt mess, it's the kind of place where people are lining up contracts for their cousins to earn 100k in taxpayer dollars to make a few powerpoint presentations or whatever the fuck. Should Elon Musk be in charge of trimming the waste and corruption? Probably not. However the original idea of DOGE is a solid one. If we come out the other side of this with a smaller government I am not going to complain. There are Libertarian wet dreams being discussed in the highest levels of government right now that not long ago would of been laughed at. I hope this starts a trend towards smaller government, it seems the general sentiment is leaning that way but I remain skeptical. Once people have a taste of power its hard to give up, it's entirely likely we see more of a reallocation of state power than a reduction in it.

Most of the discretionary bloat is in defense spending. Have they indicated at all that they're going to make cuts to defense?
