Coming to Tokyo for DAOTokyo 2024 https://dao-tokyo.xyz From last year, I seem to remember that if you just mumble and then say most of the word “Gozaimas”, it sounds pretty much like you’re saying the phrase for the moment (morning, night, nice meeting, thank you, etc). Mumble, mumble, “-zaimas” Thoughts?

For example: - Arregato Gozaimas (thank you very much) - Ohayo Gozaimas (good morning) etc.

Lolol I like this strategy and you’re right! -Gozaimasu is technically the suffix but if you don’t do the proper mumbling before, it can sound pretty awkward. Gozaimasu makes the word that you said before slightly more formal and doesn’t actually mean anything in particular.
