The Maids (Las Meninas) is known as the greatest painting in the history of Spain and one of the most mysterious works of art in the world. This work was created by Velazquez in 1656 on the order of King Philip IV of Spain. King Philip IV ruled Spain from 1621 to 1665; He stayed in the Royal Palace until 1819 and then went to the Prado.
