Let me be clear: The way these tariffs are being implemented feels more like an offensive strategy than a defensive one. Why? Typically, when a country imposes tariffs on imported goods, the prices of those products rise, leading to a drop in demand. That’s exactly what Trump is aiming for reducing the U.S. reliance on foreign products. Given that the U.S. has long been a major consumer of goods from other countries, and these tariffs could significantly cut into the income of nations that depend on exports to the U.S. However, tariffs come with risks. They can lead to corruption, disrupt global trade, and even put the U.S. economy in jeopardy.
