A few days late, but I finally listened! This was a very insightful conversation if you're curious about the origins of and plans for Degen Chain 🎩 If you missed it or don't have the time to spare, I made a summary of the key points of this chat below ↓

- @jacek views the Degen Chain as the Las Vegas of blockchains; hopefully you had fun while you were there whether you made $$$ or not - Degen Chain isn’t trying to innovate at the blockchain level like @vitalik.eth is with Ethereum, but it’s a cool tool for building an ecosystem and community

Within the last 24 hours of launching the chain, what are some interesting things Jacek has been seeing? - @zora NFTs (ERC-20 minting with $DEGEN) - Bybit $DEGEN listing - @undefined points - @ted’s Degen poker - Verifiable Random Functions and contracts have started being deployed onto Degen Chain

Why an L3? - Initially, Jacek wasn’t convinced on doing an L3 for $DEGEN and didn’t even know what an L3 was - Having your own home and universe - The lower fees and having its own gas token - The technical possibilities for building on Degen Chain

Why are L3 chains compelling? (Q to @will) - Near zero gas fees (each transaction on the Degen chain is the cost of under a billionth of a penny). This is great for experimentation & creativity ➡️ super-micro transactions that can bring things that you can do offchain, onchain

Why are L3 chains compelling? cont. - Precompiles (a way to add code directly to the chain) ➡️ a dev isn’t constrained by the existing compute limits of ETH. You can do 🆒 things, like complex Farcaster data handling, with precompiles on an L3 that would be impossible to do on a L1 or L2

Why are L3 chains compelling? cont. - Once you customize a chain, you’re able to start to build in the direction of specific use cases (like gaming, social, etc.) - You can run non-Solidity code on the chain through Arbitrum Stylus ➡️ offchain groups now have the opportunity to be onchain

What are the current day challenges of setting an L3 up? (Q to @will) - The hardest part of launching an L3 is making the chain useful i.e. bringing together the tooling & infra that devs need to succeed

How is Jacek thinking about Degen Chain moving forward? - Infra has to get in place - He is playing it by ear i.e. listening to what people want to build & do on Degen Chain ➡️ incentivizing and helping builders build

How is Jacek thinking about Degen Chain moving forward? cont. - What are the things that Degen Chain needs e.g. do we need a Degen Uniswap? Do we need Degen Zora or OpenSea? - There’s no master plan, the roadmap gets built by failing/succeeding in certain areas & playing into the successes ➡️ Ex. @drakula
