Crate and potty training my rescue pup, Xochi, has been a journey. He came with severe separation anxiety (abandoned in a box as a baby) and might be a Great Dane/Lab mix - essentially nightmare mode for crate training. I let him co-sleep until he could jump in and out of bed on his own, while slowly introducing kennel time during the day. Last night, for the first time since he started to be in the crate at night last week, he slept peacefully in the there, letting me get a full 6-7 hours of uninterrupted sleep! He even pottied in the right spot first thing in the morning. Through all this Glitch has been dealing with unpacking her own issues being a fighting dog rescue who both loves Xochi but also is defo having things come up cause of the puppy. She has been doing her own learning to self regulate and coming along just as well 🖤 As a reward for all this hard work and letting me fucking sleep lol, today it’s thunderdome playtime and then a ton of treats 🖤
