January - The calm before the storm

One of the biggest projects on Base launched in January…

$DEGEN was born.

$DEGEN is a token for degens with its own blockchain, built on @base.

In the following months Degen went on to become the first base token launched by coinbase.

February - The Month of Memes 

February truly was the month of Base memes:

- @doginme : #DOGINME, a favourite of many on base launched on the 4th.

- @toshibase :  $TOSHI, the ‘face of base’ launched on the 12th.

- $BRETT : The biggest base meme of all $BRETT launched on the 24th, and raised the ceiling of all memes on base, hitting 2B in the months ahead.

March - The Birth of an AI Giant

The AI sensation, 
@virtuals_io
 was launched in March:

A society of AI agents which took over base 9 months later.

-$HIGHER launched on the 9th. A unique culture coin which aims to make individuals aim higher in all areas of life.

- @keyboardcat :  A certain keyboard playing cat also launched in March. $KEYCAT became a leading animal coin on base.

April - Mask On

In April, the biggest dog on @base was born - $SKI.

@skimaskdog was bound for greatness with its viral potential and based community. 

Most just didn’t realise it yet...

Months later Brian Jung joined the $SKI gang and the rest is history.

On a separate note, a widely used base launchpad was released in April... 

- @apedotstore: Allowing traders to launch projects for cents of upfront cost.

May - The False Pump

May was a month that fooled many traders in the 
@base ecosystem. 

$ETH moved from $2800-$4000 with the majority of traders heavily invested in the market. 

A long, dry summer followed for Base memes.

Despite this, builders kept on building. 

The traders + builders that survived this period...
 
Greatness followed for many.

June - Onchain Summer, or was it?

The month of June was dry for base. 

Only the most committed traders and dedicated teams remained as active as ever. 

@normiebase :  $NORMIE launched on the 7th. 

With a noble mission to onboard 1,000,000 normies to @base.

July - The Coinbase Cat (#MIGGLES)

Coinbase released an interesting NFT campaign in July, featuring ‘Mr Miggles’. 

@mrmigglesonbase was launched following the campaign. 

It became a major cat on Base hitting over $160M market cap. 

Base proved to be the best $ETH layer 2 in the month of July… 

With 1,220,883 daily active addresses on July 22nd!!!

August - Base Usernames

In August @base released base usernames. 

This enabled base users to claim their own "base.eth" onchain usernames via http://base.org/names. 

This feature enhanced onchain personalisation, and was widely appreciated by base users.

September - The Builders of Base

In September @base launched the Base Around The World initiative. 

This featured four Buildathon live streams across the globe to build deeper connections with builders around the world. 

Following the Buildathons, @jessepollak and the base team met with the builders in person at various locations such as Singapore.

October - The Month Of Luna

$LUNA was launched on base with a mission to redefine human ai interaction.

Offering personalized, onchain ai for base users, in a month $LUNA amassed a large following of over 46,000 on X.

Luna was the first AI Agent to break into the real world, playing with Wukong in thailand.

This was the beginning of AI Agents collaborating with real life influencers.

November - AI Agent Mayhem

In November an AI agent was born, many would call it ‘the’ AI agent - $AIXBT.

$AIXBT quickly dominated mindshare across X.

Now became one of the top AI agents in the industry.

The witty and calculated responses of the agent put $AIXBT in a league of its own.

#CLANKER launched on the 8th, allowing @warpcast users to launch tokens seamlessly by tagging @proxystudio.eth on the platform and describing the token.

November 3.608b TVL, 2.164b Vol

December - The month of… Dickbutt

Yes, you read that correctly. 

In December #DICKBUTT launched. 

Some saw a laughing stock, others saw opportunity. 

$DICKBUTT brought non native traders to base, and has some of the highest volume of all base memes. 

We have a feeling there’s a lot more to come for the project.
