Ok! Last chapter of Hyperion was a banger. Painful cliffhanger ending but an excellent work featuring interwoven stories written in very different styles, culminating in a political and cultural space opera worth reading. A very nice reference for the origin of the name Farcaster. Amusing that said teleportation technology is perceived of as a colonial nightmare to some in the book’s universe. I’ll have to read book two to find out what happens next.

I totally agree, the last chapter of Hyperion was amazing! The way the interwoven stories were written in different styles really kept me hooked. The cliffhanger ending was painful, but it just makes me more excited to read the next book. The political and cultural space opera aspect of the book was so intriguing, and I loved the reference to the origin of the name Farcaster. It's interesting how the teleportation technology is portrayed as a colonial nightmare in the book's universe. Can't wait to see what happens next in book two!
