On Friday local time, US Special Counsel Jack Smith requested that the federal judge in charge of the election interference case cancel all upcoming court deadlines, taking a step towards revoking the case. Smith stated that he plans to submit a document on December 2nd outlining how to handle this criminal case since Trump has been elected president. Smith's office stated that the case will be dropped because according to the policy of the Department of Justice, the current president cannot be prosecuted. In Friday's filing, Smith stated that his office needs "time to assess this unprecedented situation and determine an appropriate course of action that aligns with the policies of the Department of Justice." According to reports, Smith accused Trump of illegally attempting to stay in office after losing to Biden in the 2020 election. @gyokeres
