Do businesses also usually have a VAT tax in such a system? Or is that calculated somewhere else, e.g. in a software that issues receipts?

Ah, okay, if the invoices are created separately, then there's probably no need to have a tax feature.

Now that I think about it, whenever I pay with a card and get a payment slip from the PoS terminal, there's no tax info on it :)

merchants would still need to invoice their customers separately

rn there's no integration with the tax system (ie merchants have to do it manually), but i'm planning to talk with existing cashier systems so that reconciling receipts and cash flow becomes easier

definitely out of scope for the mvp, but good point!
