anyone here available to help me figure out why my squarespace domain isn't working with substack? something just refusing to connect in the DNS settings

I don't know how it works, but I guess you would need to add a TXT or CNAME in your DNS so substack can get it? Is that not working?

I guess you have already read it, but in principle you only have to add the CNAME (https://support.substack.com/hc/en-us/articles/360051222571-How-do-I-set-up-my-custom-domain-on-Substack) NOTE: it could take some time to get refreshed on the DNS and propaged so Substack can read it.

Ok, so the www works. Do you want to have the root domain? In that case you would need to remove the A registry.

They should allow you to add it again later on. As in this thread we have a screenshot you have a backup to recreate it. Be sure you don't have anything solving your root name to anything.
