Just in the last few days: Afghan women forbidden to speak in public, an Iranian woman detained and possibly disappeared for revolting against the mandatory hijab, and a Texas 20-year old pregnant woman left to die from sepsis after three hospitals dithered due to the legal threat surrounding abortion. Right now, no amount of clever LLMs or catching rockets with metal pincers can make me feel like we're living in the future. Edward Wilson said it best: we have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and godlike technology. And it is terrifically dangerous, and it is now approaching a point of crisis overall.

It is depressing on so many levels. I still don't understand why humans do not make the more inclusive decisions. Including people doesn't hurt anyone; it helps people to jump in by making it accessible. That's why we improve pedestrian streets, because it will allow more people to traverse it. Putting obstacles in it shows terrible intentions.
