I have finally decided to represent the layers as icons in the OLED display. I have managed to center the wpm text in the lower part, and I still have space to add something (probably something small). 

I have created everything with Inkscape. I plan to upload everything to GitHub so others can adapt it to their needs. 

What do you think?
