Yesterday I had conversations on @warpcast with builders from India, Canada, France, Indonesia, Japan, Spain, and America. The barrier to entry for international builders to attend /farcon-nyc is substantial. Made me wonder what would be the best way to subsidize delegates from each of those countries. @ted how did it worked last year?

first, thanks for chatting with all the warpcast builders. means a lot. emblematic of what makes this community so special. second, what do you mean barrier to entry? the cost to fly and stay in NYC? candidly, last year was so chaotic dealing with protocol growth and trying to scale the event that we didn't put as much thought into scholarships as i would've liked.

Yes, cost as a barrier to entry. Flight, hotel, food, etc. If somebody is spending $500 a month for rent in Spain and that is what it cost for a room at a hotel one night in Brooklyn, I guess that would be prohibitively expensive. I was thinking about localization of pricing in addition to sponsors offset hard cost for flights and lodging or potentially trying to partner with a booking.com for future events

i know @esteez.eth has worked hard to put together a cost-effective hostel-like option for builders and they did do a capsule collection to raise some $$ for scholarships will DC you to better understand and see where we can help

Very kind of you. I will put out some soft feelers with some of the people I chatted with to see if that wasn’t an obstacle how inclined or not they would be to still join.
