income is poorly correlated with ambition

not quite... obviously ambition isn't the *only* factor correlated with income (always more complex), but there's a sufficient body of research demonstrating there *is* a correlation: dunn (2006) found men with high "work drive: earn ~30% on average judge (2012) found ambitious men more likely to achieve higher salaries over their careers and work longer hours (also correlated with higher salaries) mckinsey (2018) found ambitious men ~2x likely to reach exec positions ng (2019) found ambition + relationship-building strongest predictor of income plus business school research shows males who self-report high ambition earn 15 - 30% more a decade out
