rob henderson’s luxury beliefs are a status symbol could be my favorite dinner table conversation (to mostly everyone in LA’s dismay). core feature is that luxury believer is insulated from consequences of his or her luxury beliefs. is this you? :)

fun fact from rob: dueling was originally confined to the elite, then spread throughout the colonies — elites immediately abandoned it and then they outlawed it. distinction in culture is what matters most to elites.

Henderson: defund the police - a fashionable accessory for the affluent. Americans, on the whole, are against defending the police — but white democrats more in favor of it than black and Hispanic, and highest income were more in favor of it than any other income class. this has contributed to higher crime rates now.

Henderson: the luxury belief with the most wide ranging denigration of society is the erosion of family structure (cc @hyper). out of wedlock births is skyrocketing since 1960, but primarily in the low income category. *i hope a bestie asks him his opinion on elon’s fathering many kids with different women*
