How do y'all even manage long distance relationships?

How do you feel when someone promises to turn up for you in one way or the other and then fails to turn up?

For me, it's one of the worst feelings ever!

For those in relationships (or have experience), is it better to spend as much time as possible with your partners? Or to spend some time apart so as to keep the relationship "spicy"?
