ok so i made an alt on /alfafrens for lebleuelefant today, thought it would be a great publicity stunt.

staked my big fat ALFA stack into staking it's channel.

True. Haven’t been there but heard a lot about the beginning of FT.

I think there are two differences though
1. With FT this was a bug that they (tried to) fix and with AF it is intentional that ALFA is there to boost attention to a channel.
2. With AF it does not restrict users to enter a community they want to.

You’re exactly right. I’m guessing this team watched FT closely and learned a lot from their mistakes
