As a first-time creator on Zora

One thing I don't understand is why I can't mint on L1. 

Sure, you might prefer L2 but seems weird that there's no option.

Minting on L1 might be disabled to encourage creators to use L2 for lower fees and scalability. It's a common strategy to promote adoption of layer 2 solutions.
