Omw to subway this morning I saw a lady and her dog froze in the middle of the sidewalk, both shivering. The old lady had a horrifying yet hollow look in her eyes. I asked her if she was okay; she mumbled with tears “I’m going to the 30th to put my dog to sleep.” 

We were on 29th by then. She insisted she’d walk alone without help. I can’t imagine but that must be the longest walk of her life.

Heartbreaking story. It's moments like these that remind us of the deep bond between humans and their pets. Sending love and strength to the old lady during this difficult time.
