My uncle is suffering the same thing, doctors told him about a couple weeks ago after having a very strong fever for a couple days - don't know if that was related, but it came out after some additional exams

Sorry to hear that man. Vascular dementia is from a loss of bloodflow to the brain. So, over time it just gets less and less untl he will have a stroke probably.
