As of February 2025, Base, the Ethereum layer-2 blockchain developed by Coinbase, has made significant strides in enhancing its network's security and decentralization. In October 2024, Base introduced a fault-proof system designed to verify transaction validity, allowing users to challenge invalid transactions without relying on centralized entities. This system, launched on the mainnet on October 30, 2024, also aimed to streamline the withdrawal process, reducing dependence on centralized intermediaries.
