Walking scale distances hit different On our first day of makeshift camino, we walked south out of our hotel in Cadiz, along the boardwalk and to the edge of town. By the time we finally passed the last building, an hour passed. San Fernando is the next town over, and our destination for lunch. We picked our way across the sand bank, walked over a car bridge to cross the train tracks, and then saw San Fernando in the distance behind the old salt mines, which have beautiful yellow flowers this time of year. It would take 5 minutes by car to get there. But it took 2.5 hours from that point to walk to lunch
