What’s your take on DAOs lately?

Doing work for a DAO reminds me of working on a HOA board (small board of a housing complex). More bureaucracy than you might expect, but also considering the interests of the whole vs the parts…

To me, DAOs are extremely interesting live-experiments on coordination and governance mechanisms.

Contrary to popular belief, however, they are hard to navigate for newcomers. And often, they can be frustrating even for seasoned participants.

I think they can work, but with two things in mind:

1) There's no one-size-fits-all. DAOs for different protocols and for different purposes might need different approaches and structures.
2) Each DAO needs to find, decide, and agree on the overarching vision. Otherwise, every contributor is walking in the dark, searching for validation from others who are also walking in the dark.
