Musonius Rufus says that difficulties and trials are not obstacles on the path to virtue, but virtue itself. The more difficulties we face, the more opportunities we have for spiritual growth and development. However, it is important to remember that philosophers do not encourage us to actively seek out difficulties or enjoy suffering. They simply teach us to accept difficulties as an integral part of life and look at them as opportunities for improvement.
