Russell Martin's Southampton sit dead last in the Premier League, but they are second in the league in short passes-behind Man City-and top 5 in possession. And that has worn on the fans. During their match against Aston Villa (0:1), supporters applauded each time goalkeeper Joe Lumley kicked the ball away rather than play it short. Martin was indignant: "Who is the fault of the goal? Well, look: we pressed them - and Lumley just had to play long balls. It was this playing for a long time brought up our fans. Ten seconds after that, we played against a goal. And according to the match statistics suspicion creeps in it's not only the fans to blame.
