At the beginning of the 19th century, women's hats of the "Neapolitan Bonnet" model became fashionable. The purpose of these hats was to protect women's heads from the scorching rays of the sun. This happened because the rules of French etiquette prescribed the exclusion of public kissing. From there came the expression: "tête à tête", "tete–a–tete", which translated from French meant: together, alone with each other, without strangers, face to face. Later, after the plague epidemic, kisses began to be replaced by handshakes and a greeting taking off hats with a bow😅
