silly me for thinking there’s only 365 chains 

there’s actually 8700+ L1s, 5200+ L2s, 2000+ EVM chains

even more attention fragmentation than i thought

over 80% of chains are just scams or VC grifts, with less than $50k in TVL and volume.

if we filter properly by tvl and volume, we get:

layer 1: 47
layer 2: 15
total: 65

no, it doesn't mean they are 100% scam. 

as i said, the cost to maintain a real l1 (validators, security, infra, devs, etc.) is massive. anything sub-$100m is struggling to stay alive or is outright vaporware

But how can you assume that all L1s with less than $100M mcap is a scam? 

Such assumption is wrong IMO.

That's still a big number if we filter out all the scams

literally foundations are faking tvl with the help of bots
