Nearchos (also spelled Nearchus) was an ancient Greek navigator, explorer, and admiral of Alexander the Great. Born in Crete in the 4th century BC, he is most famous for his expedition that navigated from the Indus River to the Persian Gulf following Alexander's conquest of the Indus Valley.
