Forrest Gump. I love the film uses history to jump between the micro and macro narratives and to give us a context of timeline, political climate, and American culture throughout the chronology of the film.

There is a Brazilian film called "City of God", it is somewhat violent, but it is also poetic and has very good images and script. I like him because he marked a time when favelas were known, but no one ever understood them.
