well what you *could* do is make your own endpoint that paginates through a request like the neynar api and then cache the majority of the results(assuming the majority of the user’s following list won’t change a crazy amount)

otherwise you’d need to index data and make a performant call that can do this

Why is it so hard / expensive to get a simple list of follower fid on farcaster?

Unlike Lens, Farcaster data runs on hubs. Hubs can be pricey to run, but in order to get data suitable for an API you need a replicator to write the data from a hub to a database. It prevents the need to pay gas every time you write to the network, but the cost comes out in other ways.

The argument is that the data is worth the amount of money you spend, but I think there’s definitely work to be done to help make this better.
