what exactly does a node on base do? is it similar to btc nodes?

- You get to run a lite node on Base (via your computer)
- Pretty much no-code/ low code setup
- You snapshot data on a daily basis from onchain tools (DEXes/apps,etc.)
- You earn rewards for the same

The data that gets snapshotted can be used by devs to build apps or learn/analytics.
